Solving Durability and Noise Issues with Smooth, Reliable Movement
The SMOOVE TURN BASE utilizes a friction-control mechanism to enable smooth rotation without the need for bearings, addressing the common problem of noisy ball bearing rotation. This simple yet cost-effective design is both slim and durable, achieving the required performance and high durability, while solving the issue of the loud noise typically associated with ball bearings.
The rotation offers just the right amount of resistance, providing a quality, reassuring movement that is neither too light nor too heavy. Additionally, the base is equipped with a stopper function that allows the rotation to be fixed at any desired position. This feature ensures safety and comfort, especially when standing or sitting, making the product suitable for use by children and elderly individuals, as it can be securely stopped for added peace of mind.

It can be made thinner than a ball bearing turntable, so it can be installed without compromising the design of the chair. There is a high degree of freedom in design, so please feel free to contact us with any customization requests.

Core Technology Requested by Customers: Friction Control Mechanism
Rotating bases with ball bearings can experience issues over time, such as the release of metal dust due to wear or leakage of lubricating oil, both of which require repair or replacement. Additionally, excessive load beyond the bearing’s durability could lead to failures, such as the balls detaching. However, the SMOOVE TURN BASE boasts superior durability. It has been used by renowned furniture manufacturers for approximately 5 years without any complaints, and we can confidently recommend it.
The Secret to Smooth Rotation
The SMOOVE Friction Device achieves the perfect balance of rotation by sandwiching a highly wear-resistant material between metal plates and precisely adjusting the tension. This creates a rotation with just the right amount of resistance, offering a premium feel. This friction control mechanism has been consistently praised by customers for many years. Additionally, since no oil is used, there is no concern about lubricating oil leakage.

Two Durability Tests Conducted
Test Method 1: A 60kg weight was placed approximately 50mm off-center from the center of the chair seat. The chair was then rotated between 50°and 70°for 100,000 cycles. Test Results: 1: The rotational resistance remained consistent with the initial setting, with no noticeable inertia or unwanted movement. 2: There were no significant changes in the resin’s sliding components. 3: The seat remained stable with minimal wobbling, and the test concluded successfully. |
Test method 2: Place an 80 kg weight in the center of the chair seat and use a stopper to prevent the rear legs from moving backwards. The front legs are then pushed backwards so as to lift them about 100 mm above the seat, and then returned to their original position. This process is repeated 30,000 times. Test results: No changes in appearance or wobbling were observed. |
Comparison with Bearing-Type Mechanisms:
The bearing-type mechanism experienced wear over repeated use, leading to the formation of black dust and grease contamination.
Additionally, the gaps between components widened, resulting in noticeable wobbling.

It can rotate 360° and stop in any direction, making it ideal for logistics sites.

Contributing to the Lightweighting and Fuel Efficiency of Public Transport Trains
The traditional method of lifting and rotating seats requires significant force, making it challenging for individuals with less strength to use. By switching to a rotating mechanism, the process becomes more accessible to a wider range of users. Additionally, the lightweight design of the mechanical components could contribute to the overall reduction in the weight of the train, potentially improving fuel efficiency.
